This chapter deals with the requirements and conditions for medical care on board. It starts with a discussion on the factors influencing onboard medical care, followed by a stepwise approach on how to improve it. In an overview, a list of the current regulations and guidelines related to medical care on board will be presented.  All relevant aspects of medical care then will be dealt with before describing in greater detail medical care on board itself and conditions to be met and how to do this in the best possible way. Subsequently all relevant subjects related to telemedical maritime advice will be discussed after which the chapters ends with the theory and practice of medical evacuations.
