The Textbook of Maritime Medicine was built by Web Developer Kjetil Horneland together with NAMM and NCMM. Kjetil has extensive knowledge within the fields of webdesign, development and content management systems. He is currently working as CEO of a development agency in Norway called Kamikaze Media AS and is also the webmaster of other Norwegian Maritime Medicine websites like NAMM, MILMED and MSOF.
Open source The website itself was built using Joomla CMS, a free open source system that was adapted to suit our needs. This is actually the very same system that the IMHA website uses, and most of the functions you will find here were used "out of the box". In addition to creating a book/website we were able to add social networking features and other interesting things like the World Map of Maritime Medicine Professionals .
